Yes I read the whole article, and it's just on single vehicle accident deaths, which is the case the main post is about. I'm not saying that all motorcyclist drive crazy and kill themselves, but it seems to have become a growing trend. I live in FL, which has no helmet law. From what I have seen, maybe 1 out of 6 wear a helmet, and even less wear jackets, gloves, etc.. So IMHO, most of them are only asking for injury. I ride a motorcycle(sportbike) too, and know first hand that other auto drivers aren't paying attention and cause many accidents, as you've stated. I try constantly to be aware of whats going on around me and down the road(traffic and road conditions). I'm always trying to make myself visible to traffic and at the same time position myself to be able to safetly avoid an accident if neceaary. I wear all the gear: helmet, gloves, jacket, pants, and also follow all traffic laws as if I were in a car. The bike isn't a toy for me, it's just a cheaper, albeit more dangerous, mode of transportation. So far I've been lucky, but I truley believe that a properly trained rider that is constantly aware of his/her surroundings, searching ahead, and isn't driving beyond their skill level, will greatly increase their chances of not being involved in an accident. Of course not everything is avoidable. Ride safe
